About Us

We’re Johnny "Rowdy" and Ramona Routon, and here’s a little about how we got into the Longhorn life.

We both grew up in small towns near Fort Griffin State Park, home to the Texas State Longhorn Herd, and we’ve always admired these incredible cattle. Once the kids were grown and out of the house, we decided it was time for a change—so in 2021, we found the perfect piece of land just outside Olney, TX, and built ourselves a little barndominium. Of course, we needed to keep our Ag Exemption, and what better way than with Longhorns?

At first, we dove in headfirst without doing much research and bought five non-registered Longhorns. About a year later, we discovered the TLBAA and realized we wanted to take things more seriously—so we sold all but one. That one? Well, she’s more of a giant grass puppy than a cow. She comes when called, loves attention, and has completely stolen Ramona’s heart—she’s never leaving!

People talk about the “Longhorn addiction,” and we get it now. This breed has a way of pulling you in, and the people in the industry have been nothing but welcoming, always ready to share advice and stories. We’re learning as we go, and our breeding goals have evolved—we’re now focused on size, conformation, horn, and color to build a herd we’re truly proud of.

Thanks for stopping by—we’d love to hear from you, so don’t be a stranger!
